January 30th 2010

January 30th was the day of My sister's baby shower. A day that I'd prefer to never relive but I'm slowly getting over it. lol. Here's the whole story about it.

My mom and I had decided to host it along with my sister's boyfriend's sister (her future sister in law, adi). anyway, we had planned to have the baby shower the last day in February. I had made 30 invitations from scratch and my mom had set a weekend for the three of us to organize the baby shower together. That Saturday had come and when I showed up at my mom's house she told me that Adi had been completely avoiding my mom's phone calls, texts, and voicemails. We would have to plan the shower without her. So we did, we planned the games, food, favors, decorations.. everything.

a few days later we bought everything we needed: supplies for diaper cake, prizes, gifts, even a crib.. everything except for the food&fresh ingredients for the favors which we had planned to do the morning of the shower. I had prepared the diaper cake about three days before that thing took a whopping 4 hours! holy crap. it was harder than it looked. Also on that day, I had to make 20 more invitations from scratch just especially for leo's family. About feb 28th, Adi finally fessed up and told us that she couldn't afford to help. I suppose she felt bad/embarrassed about it because she never even showed up. btw, she was in charge of the RSVPs which we heard absolutely nothing about!! grr......

So the day of the shower comes. I woke up kinda late so everything was pretty much a jam in the first place. My mom told my dad that he could go with the boys fourwheeling. (this is was the day of Jr. Prom so fourwheeling was my little brother's day date) My mom had forgotten that my dad had the costco card and that's where we were supposed to go for ALL OF THE FOOD!! I thought I could get busy making cupcakes but surprise, NO CAKE MIX. I used brownie mix instead.

so three hours go by.. we decorated, set everything up and still no sign of the boys.
my mom called and stuff and surprise, NO ANSWER!! ...long story short, my mom ended up having to go to a different grocery store 30 minutes before the shower started and change our WHOLE ENTIRE FAVOR IDEA!

The guests started showing up and really scared the crap out of us since we had NO CLUE how many people were going to show up. only about 15 of the FIFTY people showed up. absolutely none of Leo's family and NOBODY from chante's work. I was seriously so ticked that I handmade the invitations and not even half of them showed up!!

I played it off very well though. we still had a great time with our side of the family and had really fun games. The food was okay and we really should have planned more as far a that goes but now we know. It was a pretty good learning experience and in a few years I know I'll look at these pictures and laugh. For now I'm still pretty red hot. hahaha.

It was so cute, in the middle of opening presents Jared came down in his kilt and turned so many heads. I have such a cute little brother :D

This is the Shower invitation that I designed from scratch.
It turned out so cute :)

A cupcake tower that my roommate let me borrow for the shower.
I ended up cooking four batches of caramel fudge brownies because I could only cook 12 at a time!
fyi: two ovens are useless if you only have one pan >:(

The front of the diaper cake that I made all by myself.
It was made of 80 newborn diapers, a little container of conversation hearts, a receiving blanket, two pacifiers, six washcloths, a teddy bear blanket thing, a hooded towel, a big "A" for Amariah, about 100 rubber bands and tons of ribbon & buttons.
Taneesha and I helped Chante take it apart after the shower and enjoyed some MUCH needed sister time :)

The back of the diaper cake that I made all by myself oh anddd a photo of chante as a newborn.
There were photos on the table of my mom at her baby shower for chante and while she was pregnant with her. also a great picture of my grandma holding newborn chante.

The beautiful memorial candles that we had set up for my wonderful grandparents
(reused from my wedding)

We used chante's baby clothes as decorations. aren't they adorable??

Chante opening a bag FULL of baby girl dresses and headbands and bows from our aunt cinnie.

the whole party, even duchess annoying grandma lucille!

opening MORE presents. By this time she had 50-100 baby girl outfits, no joke.
this was the third shower thrown in her honor ;)

Amariah decided that she didn't like it very much when mom bent over.
She was tired of opening presents so she kicked mama. haha.

This is Jared and Kailee all dressed up for Jr. Prom; The kilt was a dare.
How many young men in your senior class would have the guts to follow through with a dare like that??
I sure as hell don't know of one!!

Two days after the shower, Feb 1st was Chante's last ultrasound!
She says she has her dad's nose. Chante is due February 24th 2010 and planning on an all natural birth! (whoooooph)

I love you already, Amariah Esperanza. I can't wait to meet you!!!
